Our Mission
Who are we? What do we do?
SHARC is a non profit organization in Palo Alto, California, encouraging high school students to drive their passions. Literally! Our organization aims to reach three goals:
1. Promote autonomy in student innovation, as we are a student led organization
2. Immerse high school students into a hands on experience with automotive and engineering applications
3. Diversifying our team and welcoming students of all backgrounds
How does this work?
Students can apply at no cost and no prior experience. Our team is looking for students who are especially dedicated and are great when working in teams. For each season, we will build a solar car as one big team, and compete with other teams. Students can apply to sub-teams and be trained for the experience needed to build a solar car that is safe for people to drive. Students applying are strongly encouraged to have their driver's license.
This organization is one hundred percent student-led and autonomous from any school. Adult supervision is present for safety concerns.
Who is eligible to join?
Any high schooler in the Bay Area is eligible to join.
Expectation and Commitment
The expectation for being part of this team is to show up to weekly meetings and on-time, ready to build a solar vehicle.
